Random Act of Kindness #52- Replacing

During the beginning of softball season this year we had a scrimmage and I was playing outfield. It was super sunny outside and of course I had forgotten my sunglasses. I asked if anyone had an extra pair and one of my teammates offered me hers. During the scrimmage I had a collision with another teammate and the glasses didn't make it... they broke. I felt awful! We had our end of the year banquet the other day, so I decided to purchase her a new pair of sunglasses! She was surprised to see them, especially because she told me a million times not to worry about it! I don't think she thought that I even remembered breaking them! I hope these new ones last longer than the others did!

Random Act of Kindness #51- Child's dream

During the summer I babysit a little girl in my neighborhood. If you have kept up with this blog, she has previously helped me out with a few random act of kindness. I have babysat her for the past few summers, and each summer it goes exactly how it is expect to. What I mean by that is all we did was play in the sprinklers, swim, watch movies, and go to parks. However, this year I decided to mix it up. I had her create a summer bucket list at the beginning of summer. I told her to pick everything and anything she wants to do, all her "dreams". The list includes 50 things such as; bowing, circus, baseball game, make homemade ice cream, horseback riding, mini golf, and so much more. As we complete them, we cross them off. Summer flies by just as fast as our childhood, so I'm doing everything I can to complete these things on her list in order to make this a summer she won't forget.

Change donation

At Dairy Queen there is a jar for your change and all the donations go to helping sick children. My friend donated all the change she had in her wallet, which was a good couple of dollars. She has a couple relatives with cancer and she knows how hard some days can be for those children. Every penny counts in things like this. It is a real simple way to give back.

Strep Throat

This past week I have been sick with strep throat. My neighbors found out and surprised me with some ice cream. They said "nothing makes you feel better than ice cream!" I'm very lucky to have such thoughtful neighbors!

Random Act of Kindness #50- Lemonade stand

I was driving home from practice today when I suddenly saw a lemonade stand. I turned around as quickly as I could to buy a glass. I walked up to the little kid running the stand and asked him how much it was. He told me only 25 cents, so I pulled out a dollar and told him I did not want any change. He smiled really big and said thank you at least 3 times! I know it isn't much at all but I remember when I was younger I would set up lemonade stands and if I only made 5 dollars I would be happy. I hope this little kid had a successful day of selling lemonade and made all the money he had hoped for.

Random Act of Kindness #49- Movie tickets

I went to the movies with one of my friends the other day and I got there a little before she did. Since I was there early I decided to buy her ticket for her. She walked in and I handed her the ticket and she looked at me with shock because she wasn't expecting it at all!

Traffic

Today I stopped at a gas station before practice, and the traffic to get out was absolutely crazy. I was waiting for a good amount of time. The light turned red and I saw all the cars coming up and thought I was never going to get out of there. A car stopped a little before the line and left me enough room to squeeze in so I would be able to go once the light turned green. Driving is crazy. So many people are rushing around in today's world. Letting someone in, allowing someone to go before you at a stop sign, or simply patience on the road is such a easy act of kindness that can make someones day a little easier.

An unexpected thank you

A couple days ago my one of my softball coaches walked out to her car after a game and found this. Somebody left an anonymous note that "tugged on my heart strings a little" she said. Whoever wrote this for her made her smile more than they probably expected to. It's always nice seeing people who spend countless hours helping getting a thanks for all they do.

Car Wash

Today my brother's baseball team held a car wash as a fundraiser to help them get to nationals. It was their first year doing this and the results were unexpected. One car that passed was an older man who had just retired from coaching a baseball team. Besides making a money donation, he left us a bucket of baseballs as well. A few other cars donated amounts such as; 40 dollars, 30 dollars, and one even gave the team 80 dollars. There were so many cars coming through, most of which were already clean but decided to come through anyways. It was absolutely incredible to see how generous people were. Every single car really helped out this team and they couldn't be more thankful.

High-Five Friday

Today I visited my dad's elementary school. When I walked into his classroom I looked on the white board and saw this on the Friday schedule! It's high-five Friday, have a good one!

Random Act of Kindness #48- Fruit rollups

Everyday when I get home from practice, the neighbor girl is playing outside. When she sees my car she stands up and runs over to me right away. The other day when she ran over to me she asked me in the cutest voice, "Chelsea, do you have any Fruit Roll-Ups? The tattoo kind?" Sadly, I did not have any for her! Well, yesterday I was asked to babysit her. Before going over, I went to the store and bought some tattoo Fruit Roll-Ups for her. She loved the surprise and the fact that I remembered, "Ahh Chelsea you remembered!"

Random Act of Kindness #47- Goodsearch

If you are reading this blog odds are you have searched the internet before. There are millions of search engines: Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. Well, the other day I found a different search engine, one that gives back the more you search. It is called http://www.goodsearch.com/ and it is incredible! All you do is create an account, click get started, pick any cause to donate to, and then use the web. Depending on what you do on the internet, a certain amount of money gets donated to the organization you picked. This search engine has raised a lot of money for different causes and all you have to do to help is use the internet! I used it and it's just as efficient as all the other search engines! Next time you use the internet take a few seconds and check out http://www.goodsearch.com/

Random Act of Kindness #46- Positive text

These past two days our school has been taking our final exams for our classes. For some, finals can be very stressful. My friend Ally spends a lot of time studying and preparing for her finals, and it sometimes stresses her out. Before one of her finals I send her the text pictured above to give her some encouragement. You know, it only takes 30 seconds to send someone a text that can make them smile for hours. If you know someone who is stressed, sad, angry, or anything but happy, send them a quick text and let them know you're thinking of them.

Compliment cards

I got a super cool story today! This kid said he saw this idea of writing out compliments on cards and passing them around, with the hopes that they continue to be passed along. He said, "I passed them around school... people reacted in different ways: happy, thankful, surprised, and some creeped out." He said majority really appreciated them, even though they were so out of the blue. The great thing about this is he saw them actually being passed around from person to person! It really does only take one person to start something, good job and great idea!
