Thank You to a Teacher

Teachers always hope they have a positive impact on the students that they teach. However, sometimes it is hard to see that impact right away. So it’s really nice when a student goes out of his or her way to let a teacher know that they enjoyed a class and found it interesting or valuable. Today, a student gave a teacher at BHS a plate of cupcakes and a thank you note, letting him know that she enjoyed his class and that she had learned a lot. What an awesome act of kindness! "She certainly made my day and reminded me why I decided to become a teacher in the first place!”

A stuffed Motorcycle for Dad

This weekend, my family was supposed to go to Chicago to see relatives and enjoy the city during the holiday season. Unfortunately, my two year old Ben got pink eye, altering our plans. My wife decided to take my four year old Brady to Chicago while me and Ben stayed home. While in Chicago, they saw the holiday train, ate at Rainforest Cafe, played ping pong at the hotel, and did a lot of other fun things. At one of the stores, Brady got to play the “claw game”. Though normally impossible to win anything, Brady won a stuffed motorcycle! I think Brady knew I was a little bummed I wasn’t able to go with him to Chicago, so he decided to give the motorcycle to me when he got home. It was such a cool thing for him to do because it was completely unprompted by any adults. It was his way of letting me know he was thinking of me while he was having a fun day with his mom. Last night, I slept with the stuffed motorcycle (I know, like I’m the four year old!) just so he knew how thankful I was of his kind act. Thanks Brady, you are a great kid and made me happier than you will know by giving me that stuffed motorcycle!

Awesome Neighbor

Today we received this story through email about a person with an awesome neightbor. What a great example of lending a helping and kind hand to others.
"I have the best next door neighbor. His name is Mark and he is the kind of neighbor that will do anything for you. Often, out of nowhere, Mark will text me and ask if he can bring over some freshly baked (and diet crushing!) goodies...cookies, pie, quiche, you name it. He is also always helping in other ways too. Today, after bringing over the cookies in the picture, he raked all the leftover leaves out of my yard from the fall. We had an early snow fall this year, and it caught most of us off guard and unable to remove the leaves before winter. But on December 13th, there was Mark without even telling me he was going to help. Amazing! I can only hope that I am as good a neighbor to him as he is to me. He is the definition of what a neighbor should be and I am happy that he sets a great example of giving to me and my family. Thanks Mark! You are the best!"
