Cece shares the kindness

Okay, this is incredible! If you read my last post you remember that Damaris surprised her sister with her favorite cookies after she had a stressful day at school. Well, Cece decided to share the kindness herself! Damaris and Cece have an older brother named Fredy. Cece purchased his favorite ice cream and just like Damaris did for her, she left it on the counter with a note for him to find after wrestling practice. Damaris said, "I was so proud to see her come up with a way to put a smile on our older brother's face... I'm so lucky to have siblings that care about each other and making each other smile" It's great to see Cece passing the kindness on. If I have learned anything during this experience it's that one small act on your part can influence many others. Keep it up guys, it's the little things in life!

Test taking nerves

Taking tests can be stressful. I got a story today from Damaris who says she gets so nervous before tests that she has little meltdowns before and after them, no matter how prepared she is. Damaris has a younger sister, Cece, who had a big social studies test last week and was freaking out about it. Since Damaris knows first hand how stressful test taking can be she decided to surprise her sister when she got home. "I know she would have a huge smile on her face no matter the outcome of the test if she came home to her favorite cookies." Damaris said. She left the box of cookies with a little note waiting for her sister when she got home. "She was so happy and could not stop thanking me. Afterwards I felt so happy that I helped ease her nerves" She added. Cece even ended up getting an A on her test, making it even better. I can tell Cece enjoyed her surprise based on the picture, she is lucky to have such a good sister like Damaris.

Brady donated the stuffed animals!

Do you guys remember the story about Brady? He's the kid who wanted to buy stuffed animals for sick children with all the change that was in the change jar. Well, he did it! Brady, his brother, and his father traded the coins for cash and went out to buy all sorts of stuffed animals. After purchasing all the stuffed animals they had to decide where to donate them. Since Brady said he wanted children to have them, the Bethany of the Quad Cities was suggested. This organizations mission is to keep children and their families safe and strong during their time of need. His father says in the email, "It was such an amazing experience! The people were awesome and really made Brady feel like he was making a big difference." After donating the stuffed animals Brady made the comment to his father, "I didn't even ask to keep one, Dad!" I'm happy Brady thought of and completed this act of kindness. I, along with so many others, are proud of you Brady! Keep it up!

Fight against brain cancer

Who remembers last year's ESPY's award winning 69- yard touchdown scored by Jack Hoffman, a 7 year old cancer patient? Do you remember who handed off the ball to Jack? The Nebraska Corn Husker's quarterback, Taylor Martinez. Taylor and Jack teamed up that day and a year later, they are doing it again. This time Jack and Taylor have teamed up to raise money for pediatric brain cancer research. Taylor owns the technology company, TTM3 Inc. and just recently announced the new Risky Road app. Taylor has created apps for a while now because he loves the look of enjoyment kids have when they are entertained by a game. However, the special thing about the Risky Road app is that 50% of all profits from this game will be donated to the Team Jack Foundation. Taylor Martinez says, "I am so incredibly proud of Jack and the Team Jack Foundation. It is very gratifying for me to give back to this important cause and I am so thankful for this opportunity. I have really enjoyed getting to know Jack and his family and hope that my company's involvement with the Foundation will be impact." If you would like to contribute to the Team Jack Foundation go to the app store and download the Risky Road app. You can give back while having fun! Also, the 1,000th purchaser will receive an autographed photo of Taylor and Jack! Thank you for the email Taylor! Go Team Jack!

Random Act of Kindness #42- Hoppy Easter

For those who celebrate, today is Easter. On Easter the "Easter bunny" comes to houses and leaves baskets and eggs full of treats. This year, the "Easter bunny" left my parents some of their favorite treats. Not only that, but I also purchased cookies for the kids in my neighborhood to have. I hope everyone who celebrates had a good Easter!

High-fives in our new shirts

As everyone knows, every Friday is high-five Friday! Not only were some students and I giving everyone high-fives, but we were also wearing our pretty cool new t-shirts. About a month ago our class got in contact with an organization called, The Pandas. The Pandas are an organization who compete in almost every sport you can think of. However, "For the month of November, the Pandas joined Kid President's #Socktober campaign in helping the homeless by launching 'Cover up Toe-vember'" says Daniel in the letter we received. They were able to collect and donated 2,000 pairs of socks. That is outstanding. The Pandas in return, created these kindness t-shirts that were inspired by the Random Act of Kindness foundation. Daniel and The Pandas sent my classmates and I some t-shirts for us to wear and to inspire others to share the kindness as well. Thank you Daniel and The pandas, we will continue to pass it on!

Thank you Brady

A few weeks ago Brady had his fourth birthday party and I was invited! It was held in our high school's gym. There were basketballs, dodgeballs, scooters, bowling pins, a piƱata, and our high school's mascot even stopped in to say hi! I had a lot of fun. Today I received a thank you card from Brady for coming and it made me smile. Brady has been mentioned in this blog multiple times before. He is so thoughtful especially for only being four. I had a blast at your birthday party, Brady. You have proven that a simple thank you is a great way to make someone else's day. You certainly made mine

Love for a stranger

An amazing story was sent in from Ariel, who lives all the way in California! A friend of her's from Denver had contacted her and informed Ariel that one of her friend's daughters was admitted into a hospital near Ariel. This woman's daughter was "facing an uphill battle larger than life itself... (baby)Lucy's heart defects range in severity starting with Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome, Double Outlet Right Ventricle, Pulmonary Valve Stenosis, Ventricle Septal Defect, and lastly Transposition of the Great Arteries. She has had one major surgery and is scheduled for another" Ariel says in her email. Ariel and her four year old daughter made a quick shopping trip and picked up some things for the mommy and daughter. Keep in mind Ariel has never met this family, but her and her daughter still "surprised her with a gift, hugs, and encouragement" she says, "it was so rewarding. Everyone was happy, Mom and baby Lucy, my friend in Denver, and my daughter as well."  This story was very moving. It can't be easy for this mother, but thanks to Ariel and her daughter she doesn't have to be alone. If you would like to learn more or help out baby Lucy as well go to http://www.gofundme.com/6scg3g You're awesome Ariel, prayers to baby Lucy and mother.

Paying for Subway

This past weekend my brother had a baseball tournament and in between games they went to Subway. One of the players on his team told my brother that he had heard about this blog and decided to spread the kindness himself. He turned to one of his teammates behind him and said, "Hey, I've got your meal today." It was so on the spot I couldn't help but smile.

DQ

Last week something incredible took place in my community. At Dairy Queen 52 cars consecutively paid it forward by paying for the person behind them in line. In return, DQ is donating 250 dollars to the Children's Miracle Network. It's amazing hearing that someone paid for someone else's meal, but to hear that it was continued on for 52 cars has me speechless. I couldn't be more impressed with everyone in my community.

Keep it going

Last night I was recognized by my city for this blog. As my mayor was speaking about it he began to tear up and in that moment I realized that what you guys have helped me create has touched and changed the lives of so many. I am blessed to have so much support from not only my community, but from all of you guys around the world. You have followed me every step of the way and have shared the kindness with your own community. You all have made such a big difference and it's just the beginning. This recognition is not only for me, but rather all of us because together we have done great things. Keep spreading the kindness.
